The Quest for the Triforce
April 1, 1999 Nintendo announces the triforce is obtainable in the game as an April fools joke. Immediately rumors on how to get it fill the Internet. The question still remains: Is there a way to obtain the triforce in Z64? The official answer is no but as long as there is still the slightest possibility gamers will want continue to hope. The triforce was completely left out of Link's Awakening but nobody tried to get it. The "proof" consists of obviously false rumors, fake photos, and preproduction screenshots. For some reason, players expect to walk into a room, open up a treasure chest and get the triforce although the stroyline clearly shows how the three pieces are broken up. The real question is not whether it is possible to obtain the triforce but why it was taken off the final version of the game. As everyone has seen, the game was obviously rushed to meet the holiday market. Another possible cause is the setup for a sequel (Gaiden). I think it is probably a combination of these two. In my opinion even if you see can somehow see the cinema scene with Link getting the triforce (of course highly unlikely) it would have no other effect on the game so players trying to find the sacred triangles are just wasting their time. At least people believe less rumors than when this issue was first broght up. Why do you think it was taken out of the game? Please email me with your comments regarding the triforce to be put on the Reader's Feedback page and vote in the triforce poll.
